Tensor Product q-Bernstein Bézier Patches

Abstract An affine de Casteljau type algorithm to compute q−Bernstein Bézier curves is introduced and its intermediate points are obtained explicitly in two ways. Furthermore we define a tensor product patch, based on this algorithm, depending on two parameters. Degree elevation procedure is studied. The matrix representation of tensor product patch is given and we find the transformation matri...

Accurate, Validated and Fast Evaluation of Bézier Tensor Product Surfaces

This paper proposes a compensated algorithm to evaluate Bézier tensor product surfaces with floating-point coefficients and coordinates. This algorithm is based on the application of error-free transformations to improve the traditional de Casteljau tensor product algorithm. This compensated algorithm extends the compensated de Casteljau algorithm for the evaluation of a Bézier curve to the cas...

On the existence of biharmonic tensor-product Bézier surface patches

A tensor-product Bézier surface patch x of degree (m,n) is called biharmonic if it satisfies 2x = 0. As shown by Monterde and Ugail (2004), these surface patches are fully determined by their four boundaries. In this note we derive necessary conditions for their existence. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. Singularities of rational Bézier curves

We prove that if an nth degree rational Bézier curve has a singular point, then it belongs to the two (n− 1)th degree rational Bézier curves defined in the (n− 1)th step of the de Casteljau algorithm. Moreover, both curves are tangent at the singular point. A procedure to construct Bézier curves with singularities of any order is given.  2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Derivatives of rational Bézier curves

Two equations are presented which express the derivative of a rational Bézier curve in terms of its control points and weights. These equations are natural generalisations of the non-rational case and various properties are found from them. Bounds on the magnitude of the derivative and the direction of the derivative (the hodograph) are obtained. Expressions for the second derivative, curvature...
